Didaskalia Statement of Faith
The Bible
We believe the Bible to be God's inspired and inerrant word, as it appears in the original manuscripts. The Bible consists of the sixty-six book canon, thirty-nine Old Testament books and twenty-seven New Testament books. The Bible is sufficient and complete in all respects, and contains all that is needed for a proper relationship with God. The authority of the Bible, based on it's nature of being God-breathed, is not dependant on any other authority such as churches, creeds, or councils.
God
We believe that there is one God eternally existing in three persons, namely the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is the creator and sustainer of all things, being all-knowing, all-powerful, and sovereign. He has decreed all that has and will come to be, and all this for His glory. God is due all the honor, praise, and glory.
Jesus Christ
The Son, Jesus Christ, became a man and entered into creation where He lived a perfect life, was crucified, killed, and then buried in a tomb. On the third day, Jesus was resurrected from the dead, preached for forty days then ascended into Heaven where He now sits at the right hand of the Father.
Mankind
We believe that man was created good and in the image of God. After which man rebelled and fell into sin. This fall resulted in man being unable and unwilling to please God or come into a proper relationship with Him.
Salvation
But God has ordained a certain people be joined with Christ and as such be saved. Salvation is only accomplished by Christ's death on the cross paying for the sins of His elect people. This provides complete forgiveness being the perfect atoning sacrifice. There is no other way in which man can be saved other than God granting His people the gift of faith and repentance, which is then exercised by turning from sin, believing in Jesus Christ, and having a love for God.
The Church
We believe Christ founded His Church, which is made up of all of those who believe in Him. They are sealed with the Holy Spirit. Jesus is the head of His church, and His people should be obedient to the commands to preach the Gospel, make disciples, and worship God.
The Second Coming
We believe Christ will return again, physically, to judge the living and the dead.
